Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)

Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Immigration streamline is 1 of the 3 programs offered by the Express Entry System as a pathway to apply for permanent residency in Canada. It has traditionally been most popular category and still remains a major program to Immigrate to Canada. Under this program, applicant must be able to demonstrate their eligibility through a point-based system based on following factors:

  • Education: 25 Points Maximum
  • Language (English and/or French skills): 28 points Maximum
  • Work Experience: 15 points Maximum
  • Age: 12 points Maximum
  • Arranged Employment: 10 points Maximum
  • Adaptability: 10 points Maximum

Applicant must score at least 67 points out of the above 100-point grid to qualify and also must meet program requirements as follows:

  • Have at least 1 year of continuous full-time paid work experience or skilled employment listed in NOC (O, A or B) in the last 10 years or a part-time equivalent.
  • Achieve the Canadian minimum language threshold on an approved English or French language proficiency test.
  • Have a Canadian high school diploma, certificate, degree or a foreign educational credential equivalent.
  • Have settlement funds to support yourself and your accompanying family for six months after arrival in Canada.
  • Intend to live outside the province of Quebec.
